The Environment
Audience travel emissions to music venues are the single biggest contributor to the music industries carbon footprint - accounting for a huge 45% of the music events carbon footprint.
Coach travel is between 4 to 6 times more environmentally friendly than taking a car to a festival.
Each year, Big Green Coach produces The Big Green Report which is a report that demonstrates the carbon saving made by people arriving on Big Green Coach rather than by car. The 2010 Big Green Report can be viewed here: Big Green Report.
The total amount of carbon saved by people using Big Green Coach rather than car in 2010 was 13,000KG. That is the equivalent of 928,531 boiling kettles worth of energy saved by customers of Big Green Coach (an increase from 446,497 on 2009).
In 2010 Big Green Coach committed to planting a tree for every full coach we took to a festival. This was in partnership with environmental charity called Trees for Cities. Through this commitment, we planted a total of 307 trees in 2010! Thanks to these trees, 115 tons CO2 will be removed from the atmosphere over the trees lifespan.

In 2011 we will increase this environmental commitment and plant TWO TREES for every one full coach we take to a festival or gig in 2011 thanks to a new partnership with Festival Wood, a new initiative from A Greener Festival.
We have an environmental and ethical policy and should you want to review it, please download our environmental policy.
We also regularly take part in festival working groups and discussions to help promoters reduce the impact of live-events. If you would like a member of the Big Green Team to help, please email customerservice@biggreencoach.co.uk
Our environmental approach has been recognised as Big Green Coach is proud to have been awarded Winners of HSBC Start Up Stars Regional Green Award 2010 and Runners up HSBC Start Up Stars National Green Award 2010.
