Big Green Coach provides carbon neutral transport for 2000 Bishops at the Lambeth Conference

Every ten years, two thousand Bishops arrive from all around the world for the Lambeth Conference and the UK’s largest and most sustainable events travel company, Big Green Coach, worked closely with the Lambeth Conference team to provide transport solutions and precise logistical planning for the 2022 event.

The Bishops flew in and out of multiple UK airports over the period of the event and all transfers were arranged by Big Green Coach. The airports were staffed with customer service representatives to escort Bishops from plane to coach. The team dealt with delays, cancellations and unexpected additional visitors calmly and professionally.

Over the duration of their stay in the UK, Big Green Coach organised and managed day-trips, on-site transfers and general scheduled and ad-hoc movements around the event location. 

Having worked closely with the country’s biggest events for the last 15 years, the Big Green Coach logistics team were not fazed by the detailed planning required for such a large scale operation, and happily provided transport between airports, accommodation and various event locations for all of the visiting Bishops. Big Green Coach provides a full logistics service to take the hassle of transport provision away from event owners and allows them to focus on delivering all the other aspects of producing their event.  The operations team has vast experience in operating large scale transport operations

A wide variety of operators and vehicles were utilised for the local and long distance requirements. The most important event was a day trip to London from the event location in Canterbury. All 2000 bishops and their partners travelled to see the sights, meet VIP’s and attend a garden party hosted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. There was a strong security aspect to this special event and Big Green Coach liaised with the Police for months in advance to plan and deliver all transport for the day.

This was all achieved via the hard work and detailed planning carried out by Big Green Coach, who specialise in taking the stress away from an event’s management team. Providing secure holding areas for people and luggage, refreshments and facilities for attendees, customer service and operational staff, operating ad-hoc and timed coach services, inter-terminal transfers at airports and an on-demand taxi service 24 hours a day, were all part of the service provided by the Birmingham based team. All vehicles were dedicated to the guests and staff of the Lambeth conference. Big Green Coach had a 24 hour on call manager and staff on site to assist with all transport requirements.  

Planning was key to the success of this operation.  Big Green Coach has vast experience in operating large scale transport operations. When managing an operation, the team not only provides on the ground and on-call support during the event but works very closely with the team in the lead up period.  Site visits, local authority meetings, Special Advisory Group meetings, risk assessments and operational and Health and Safety plans are all part of the service provided.
