IQ Magazine 2023 Green Guardian award win for Big Green Coach

Carbon neutral transport brand recognised with respected industry award

The UK’s largest and most sustainable events travel company, Big Green Coach, has been awarded the 2023 Green Guardians award in IQ Magazine’s fourth annual guide.  The annual industry go-to guide, profiles the eco-warriors and innovators striving to make the live entertainment industry more sustainable.

The Green Guardians is spearheaded by IQ and an international panel of sustainability experts to highlight and congratulate companies and organisations who are improving the live music business when it comes to being more environmentally friendly.

This year’s list of Green Guardians includes 20 entries across a wide range of event suppliers, campaigners, and solutions providers, all of whom are working tirelessly to reduce the carbon footprint of the live entertainment business.  Big Green Coach joins sustainable packaging expert biopack – smart in packaging, climate tool Green Producers Tool from Green Producers Club, energy suppliers Greener Power Solutions, and consultancy ZAP Concepts; in the latest who’s who of sustainable suppliers.

One of the goals of the Green Guardians initiative is to point decision makers toward suppliers who can help them to improve their environmental credentials. The products, services and initiatives profiled, aim to make a meaningful contribution to cleaner concerts and festivals around the world in the years ahead.

Big Green Coach is celebrating its 15th year as the UK’s largest carbon-neutral event travel provider. The carbon neutral transport company has confirmed 674.5 tonnes of carbon will be balanced for 2023 with UK charity ecolibrium, via a five figure donation to ecolibrium’s Trees+ programme.  Since joining forces with ecolibrium in 2021 Big Green Coach has balanced over 1500 tonnes of carbon.

Kevin Green who co- founded Big Green Coach with Danny Newby 15 years ago commented:

“It’s an honour to be recognised as a Green Guardian.  We take real pride in what we do, and with audience travel accounting for almost 80% of carbon emissions for live events, it’s never been more important to think about travel choices. Coach travel is already the greenest option for event goers, taking cars off the road and using less land for parking.”

Going further in its green efforts, Big Green Coach’s work with Cool Earth means it has now sponsored close to 2m sq.ft. of Amazon rainforest for ten years.  In 2022, all of its coach services were carbon neutral. Emissions for every return trip were worked out and then offset by investing in sustainability projects with Ecolibrium.
